September 18th, 2007 · No Comments

Oamaru and Dunedin in coastal Otago, and Queenstown and Wanaka in Central Otago collectively serve up a delicious combination of architecture, adventure, wine, food, walks and ecology.

Adventure seekers will rejoice in the plethora of activities on offer in Central Otago. Boating, mountain biking, fishing and skiing are just a few of the pastimes you can enjoy in a region renowned for its towering mountains, sparkling lakes and expansive landscapes.  A trip on the Taieri Gorge Railway will be a memorable journey into the dry, rocky terrain of inland Otago.

In the north, fine Victorian limestone buildings merge with sandy beaches and quaint holiday houses.  Yellow-eyed and blue penguins, seals and sea lions are some of the magnificent wildlife that can be found along the coastline.

Dunedin is a cosmopolitan university town with a vibrant cafe and pub scene. A superb museum and modern art gallery, Edwardian architecture and nearby wildlife and heritage sites are just some of the treats waiting to be discovered.
